Forum Changes

I changed the layout and design of the forums to fix a problem with registering new accounts. I dont know that i will keep this lay out unless you all really like it. Feel free to post suggestions or what not below, and i will accomodate as best i can.

How is the current design working for everyone? Easy to see,read, navigate?

I personally liked the black background and Viking header much more than this current layout. This looks like what i think exo or sent forums would look like. I get changing for mechanics but getting it to look as close to the previous would be my vote.

My apologies Vic, it was seriously not meant as a poke at exo. It looked roman and good guy to me (exo in my mind) and that's just not consistent with HoU and the main website.

Too bright for my liking. I liked the old colors better.

I did as well but the old color scheme hide text when people were registering for our forums leading to incomplete registration and them never joining. I tried to just change that but was unable to.

This is better, but the "dragon eye's" don't fit.

not sure if you mean dont fit as in they are 2 big( that is fixed) or dont fit as in the right feel...

also i am looking for a new picture for the top of the page. I want something with the same feel but that is shorter and wider, so if anyone has or finds something like that feel free to post or send it to me.

The new design looks good.

They are about the right size now.

They look a little juvenile to me, but that's okay - I am a little juvenile, myself.

Couldn't we just crop the bottom a bit and stretch the viking?

I'm not big on the dragon eyes either. Please don't change the top graphic, I think it's the best depiction of HoU we have. I'm all for putting it to the left and adding the Norse 'th' letter to the right or something, but please do not change the main graphic.

Also, the color schemes for popular and new post are too similar. Some of the threads show up ad blue but then have no new posts.

Oh, and don't change the Norse graphic.

could make an official HoU war banner and place that there. like a seal or emble or something

That's what the previous one was and no offense to any one here, but no one has the capability to make something comparable. If you want to create a banner that compliments the Viking depiction we have, that would be cool, but the old emblem does not fit (again, it looks roman). Keep the Viking pic.

I dont plan to change it until i have something that will fit the same genre(sp?). But, once i do i will change it, because it will look with a pic that fits better. I agree with the dragon eyes, but until i find something better they are it, trust me they are much better than the orginal anime kid with headphones. I will see what i can change on the topic colors.

Krig if i could cut and stretch it in a way that didnt distort or remove most of the picture i would.

Try this. Might be a little too much blue in it. Let me know and I can change colors back.

Problem is, picture has to be wide, so I felt cropping off a bit of the viking's second horn would still allow a good feel for the picture. There isn't a lot on the right side, so the guy with the hawk is important to fill that void.

If you can find out actual pixel dimensions you need, I may be able to work something out better.

I am gonna try something wes suggested. What i really need is forum icons to replace the dragon eyes. I need different ones for new and old and blah blah blah. Wes made a suggestion for that as well but i want to see what else we can come up with.
