| Yeah its def a heavier sport bike. I had it put on the dyno and was pushing 189 horse at the back tire. 1 & 2 gears the front end come up at higher rpm, its hella fun lol. |

| I am actually looking for a cheap motorcycle.
What makes models/should I look for? Cheap like < $1000
I think I would be fine with a 1980s sport-touring style, if that is around that price range.

| It will mainly be to drive to work and back, about 8 miles each way. Probably to the store and back, as well.
Not too worried about speed, as long as I can get to 55 mph(no scooters please).

Generally, they die 10 or more feet from the motorcycle. I had one guy die next to his, but it was only because he was sandwiched between a toyota and a chevy van. It was actually in the newspaper http://www.sptimes.com/2007/06/21/Pasco/Motorcyclist_dies_in_.shtmlEDIT: Some of the details here are wrong. Newspapers being inaccurate FTW.

| krig going for a bike under 1k is asking for a complete pos. Most mid 90s and up sport bikes run 2-3k unless you get down to like a 250 which is worthless. I would look for a good 650 any of the jap bikes are good suziki tends to have the best tuned from the show room floor, hondas tend to out perform suziki after tuning, My personal favorite is yamaha I have a vstar crusier and plan to get a r1. If you are looking for speed a 650 will honestly perform as well as the 1k and almost always out perform a busa with riders of equal skills. Once you hit the 650 mark the bikes have more power then they can use so its all about control after that.
Just remember if you are looking at sport bikes especially here in FL most have been beaten to shit if you dont like working on em I would up your budget and get something newer. Not sure what your mechinical skills are like but I highly recommend making friends with someone who really knows bikes and having them inspect anything you plan to buy. My brother is a MMI graduate and buys repairs and sells alot of used sport bikes MOST of them have been wrecked atleast once and it is almost always covered up with new plastics. I will let you know if i hear of anything around here for a good price.
Also if you havent riden before be careful it dont take much on a 650 or bigger to leave you lieing on your back

| Just transportation is what I am looking for. I don't plan to go over 65. I prefer handling over speed usually. I had an '86 MR2 that I loved.
Reason I say cheap cheap, is because if it ends up costing more than a car, I will get a car instead. Would rather have a bike though.
I've done some basic repairs on a car, and my dad has worked on British motorcycles for years, used to be a car mechanic - so I will have help.
